Doesn’t Every Soul Deserve Respect?

Every soul desires to live with dignity and honor in this world. Honor and respect are moral virtues expected from the most intelligent beings on the planet. But does this actually happen in our confined world? As human beings, we consider ourselves the most sophisticated creatures, the pinnacle of intellect. However, does our behavior reflect this self-perception? Certainly not.

Despite our intellectual capabilities, our desire for political power and wealth often reduces us to a state where we resemble beasts rather than the noble creatures we claim to be. The affluent commit injustices against the poor, and the strong neglect the weak. What, then, is the purpose of wielding such power if we cannot even respect our fellow humans? We often forget the importance of respecting others and their opinions. We judge individuals not by their character or actions but by their status. Rarely do we consider the plight of the oppressed. When in a secure position, we create barriers between ourselves and those less fortunate. Yet, if we found ourselves in their situation, we would likely devise a plan to escape it while respecting their viewpoints.

Employees in Offices

In some workplaces, bosses treat their employees as if they are less than human, despite the fact that the company’s success relies heavily on the hard work of these employees. Such bosses often forget that their employees deserve the same respect they themselves receive. This power dynamic allows them to disregard the humanity of those they employ. An employee, burdened with family responsibilities—perhaps even caring for a small child—may endure mistreatment from their boss, who remains oblivious to their struggles. Can we even fathom the absence of respect in this situation? The employee is emotionally and mentally trapped by someone of their own kind, left to face the harsh reality of being disrespected.

Workers in Industries and Factories

In factories and industries, workers toil tirelessly to enhance productivity and profitability, yet they are often treated like mere animals. They may be compelled to work overtime without pay, and the payment they do receive may be significantly less than what was promised. This brutal treatment can continue for months without adequate compensation. When they finally receive their pay, it may fall short of their expectations. The authorities neglect to acknowledge the value of the workers’ contributions, subjecting them to toxic behavior. This lack of respect stems from a failure to recognize that these individuals are also human beings. Greed for power leads to injustice, as those in authority take pleasure in exercising their power over the vulnerable, leaving the victims feeling nearly defeated in their search for respect.

Government Job Sectors

In government job sectors, both financial misconduct and power struggles are rampant. To secure a government position, individuals often have to pay substantial bribes, which are funneled to officials at all levels. Higher-ranking officers frequently show disrespect to their subordinates, even if those subordinates have the potential to rise to their level. They overlook the significant contributions made by all employees, from the lowest to the highest ranks, towards maintaining government operations. Often, those who were once peers in the same department find that one of them, upon receiving a promotion, ceases to treat the other with the same respect as before. In such cases, morality falters under the weight of greed and the desire to assert dominance.

In the Political Arena

The political arena is not immune to these abhorrent behaviors. In fact, it often exemplifies them. Once in power, political leaders can become arrogant, treating their colleagues as subordinates rather than as equals. This mistreatment can lead to resentment, conspiracies, and even violence against those in higher positions. Leaders often fail to recognize that their political party cannot sustain itself without grassroots support. In student politics, young individuals sometimes engage in criminal activities and show disrespect towards senior citizens. Shouldn’t everyone—especially those in power—extend respect to lower-level political workers and ordinary citizens?

Rickshaw Pullers in Cities

Consider the streets where rickshaw pullers are frequently disrespected by car drivers. The latter often mistreat rickshaw pullers simply because they lack cars and wealth. Even though rickshaws serve as essential transportation for many city residents, particularly the middle and lower classes who cannot afford motorbikes, these workers are marginalized. Shouldn’t rickshaw pullers, who significantly contribute to urban transportation, receive respect from those who are more affluent? Many regular rickshaw users also attempt to haggle for lower fares, further demeaning the drivers.

Child Beggars on the Streets

Child beggars, often ignored or even mistreated, highlight another aspect of this societal issue. Many children are forced to beg because their families are too impoverished to support them. Shouldn’t these children be appreciated for their efforts to assist their families? Additionally, numerous orphans wander the streets without parental support. Yet, instead of receiving respect, beggars often face humiliation and abuse. Everyone deserves recognition for their humanity, regardless of their financial situation.

Disrespectful Pranks in Society

A troubling trend among the younger generation is the prevalence of pranks on social media, where individuals disrespect victims for the sake of gaining fame or monetary rewards. Such behavior is deeply inappropriate and contributes to a culture of disrespect.

Farmers in Historical Context

Historically, landlords have exploited farmers, treating them as mere servants. Yet, it is the farmers’ hard work and tax contributions that sustain the landlords. Shouldn’t farmers be treated with respect and kindness, rather than being marginalized due to their poverty?

Conclusion

It can be said that we should not judge people based on their wealth, power, or social standing. Sometimes, naïve animals exhibit more loyalty and respect than humans. Ultimately, every individual in our society deserves respect. After considering these various instances, don’t you agree that every soul deserves to be respected?
