My Unforgettable Summer Days in Nepal

Soaring above the clouds, nestled amidst the majestic Himalayas, lies Nepal, a land of breathtaking beauty and rich culture. I spent the summer of 2018 exploring this “daughter of the Himalayas,” and every moment was etched into my memory like a vibrant watercolor painting.

Our seven-day tour began in Kathmandu, a bustling metropolis where ancient temples and vibrant markets coexist. We wandered through the labyrinthine streets, haggling for souvenirs and soaking in the sights and sounds of this unique city. The Durbar Square in Kathmandu, with its intricate sculptures and colourful pagodas, provided a sensory delight.

The next day, we set off on a beautiful trip to Pokhara, a peaceful and picturesque town surrounded by snowy mountains. The road twisted through lush hills and valleys, with rivers sparkling like liquid emeralds beside us. Pokhara was so calm and tranquil compared to the busy atmosphere Kathmandu, and we had the most perfect two days exploring its stunning beauty.

We took a leisurely walk around the peaceful Phewa Lake, admiring how the Annapurna Range was perfectly mirrored in its pristine surface. We also checked out the golden Buddha statue, which symbolises peace and looks out over the lake. And to top it all off, we explored the incredible Mahendra Cave, a fascinating natural wonder where stalactites and stalagmites filled the cavern, creating a breathtaking sight.

One night, we got really lucky. We were on the balcony of our hotel in Nagarkot, when suddenly the fog cleared and we could see Mount Everest in all its glory. The sun was setting and it made the mountain look even more amazing. It was such an incredible moment that showed just how incredible Nepal is.

The food in Nepal is amazing. It has all these great flavours and spices that will blow your mind. We loved eating momos, crispy samosas, and dal bhat. Every bite was like a flavor explosion. And let me tell you, the people in Nepal are just as warmhearted as their flavourful seasoning. They made us feel so welcome everywhere we went in the country.

Beyond the beautiful sights and delicious food, Nepal offered a kaleidoscope of adventure. We cycled through mountain trails, our hearts pounding with exhilaration as we navigated the winding paths. We paraglide over the serene valleys, feeling the wind whisper through our hair as we soared gracefully like majestic birds in flight.

Of course, no place is perfect. The lack of handrails on some roads could be unnerving, and pollution posed a challenge in some parts of Nepal. But these minor inconveniences were far outweighed by the overwhelming beauty and charm of Nepal.

My trip to Nepal was an amazing experience filled with vibrant threads of culture, adventure, and kindness. It reminded me that the world is brimming with hidden gems just waiting to be explored if you approach them with curiosity and an open mind. And if I ever get another opportunity, I cannot wait to return to Nepal and immerse myself in its magic once more.
